GodLike earned a spot in the COD Mobile WC Stage 5, after displaying exceptional gameplay in the Regional Playoffs. Sadly, they were unable to maintain their momentum into the big championship.
The Indian team was eliminated from the event early as a result of losing both of its games in the Group stage. They received a prize check for $15,000 (about 12.5 lakh Indian rupees). The team’s performances in those games were less than stellar, and they were unable to build the necessary momentum.
16 teams are competing on the first day of the Finals at the current World Championship, which is taking place in Raleigh, North Carolina, in the United States. A huge $1.7 million in prizes will be awarded during the four-day competition.
PERFORMANCE OF GODLIKE
The opening day got off to a bad start for another Indian team, Vitality, who played in Group B. They dropped their first game to INCO Gaming of Brazil. But they managed to come back strongly in the second game, defeating STRUT to win. To qualify for the Playoffs, the team must defeat China’s Wolves.
The squad was assigned to Group A for the first round of the Finals, which included a double-elimination tournament, along with NYSL Mayhem, Omega, and STMN. In their opening game against NYSL Mayhem, GodLike Esports was defeated 0-3. The North American team handily trounced them in the first round at Hacienda with a score of 250-121. NYSL once more won the second and third rounds, which were played in Firing Range and Slums, respectively.
GodLike faced STMN, who had lost their game against Omega Esports, after suffering a loss in the opening match. However, the Indian squad put on yet another dismal performance in their pivotal game, falling 0-3 once more.
STMN defeated GodLike in Hacienda in the opening round with a score of 250-94, displaying a commanding performance. The European team also prevailed in the remaining two rounds, which were held in Slams and Standoffs.
The 2022 COD Mobile Championship also saw the elimination of Nova Esports in addition to GodLike, STRUT, and Influence Chemin. Eight of the 16 teams remaining in the competition will be eliminated at the end of Day 1.
