A scuffle broke out between wrestlers and police in New Delhi on Wednesday night during a protest at the venue. One person was injured in the incident.

Top Indian wrestlers claimed that police had beaten them up and molested them. The latest incident took place when they tried to bring cots to protest site. Sakshi Malik, Rio Olympian bronze medallist, was reduced to tears in a video that went viral.

Sakshi said that a drunk cop had attacked her brother, while Vinesh said a cop had shoved her and another one at Sangeeta.

“It’s raining outside and we were trying to bring a bed to protest site. They beat us up and molested us. That’s how they treat daughters,” Tokyo Olympics medalist Bajrang P Punia said.

According to a senior police officer, a few men tried to bring a cot to protest site. When they were asked about it, they became aggressive and were joined by protesters. The officer said they wrongfully restrained a cop who was drunk.

Pranav Tayal, the Delhi Police Commissioner, stated that additional law enforcement personnel have been deployed to the protest site, and the situation has been brought under control. No protesters have been reported injured as a result of the incident. On the day in question, Mr. Santosh Bharti had arrived at the protest site with folding beds without authorization, and upon being confronted by supporters, they became aggressive and attempted to remove the beds from the truck. As a result, Mr. Bharti and two others were detained.
