MUMBAI INDIANS WINS 1ST WIPL FINALS

WIPL

After winning the toss and batting first, Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals skipper chose to put Mumbai Indians in to bat first in the women’s version of the Champions Trophy final on Sunday.

Unfortunately for the Caps, the decision backfired as they failed to get off to a winning start and lost wickets regularly. PW bowler Issy Wong picked up three wickets during the PowerPlay to spoil Delhi’s good start.

At one point, when Delhi were 79/9 it looked as if they were going to crash out of the tournament. However, a partnership of 52 off 24 balls with 3 sixes and 5 fours saw the Caps to a respectable total.

In reply, MI lost 2 early wickets as they chased down a challenging target of 132. However, it was thanks to the captaincy and the contributions of Harmanpur Kaur and Nasser Khan that helped them to claim the title.
