NITU GHANGHAS:- “Indian daughter” once again she made every Indian to feel proud on her.

In the Women’s World Boxing Championships (WBC) 45-48kg category final, India retained its gold medal with an unanimous decision victory over Mongolia. The reigning World Youth champion continued her brilliant run of form and dominated the first three minutes of the match. All five judges awarded the round to India.

In the second round, the Mongolian came back strongly and Nitu found herself off balance on several occasions. However, she kept her cool and countered with some powerful shots, winning the round 3-2.

Ghanghas, who has also won two bronze medals at the Asian Championships, continues her winning ways and continues to dominate the competition. She is the reigning World Youth champion and has also won a bronze medal at the Asian Championships.

Nitu’s plan was still the same in the last round, and even though she got a yellow card right away, she kept going. Even her opponent got a yellow card too, even though she was trying to fight her way back into the fight. But the officials declared Nitu the winner, and it was India’s first gold of the tournament. She had been dominating the tournament, winning three out of four Referee Stops Contests. In the semifinals, she faced her old nemesis Alua Balkibeckova, whom she had beaten 5-2 in the last round of last year’s World Championship. With this win, Nitu, who was also a gold medallist in the Strandja Memorial in 2022, became India’s sixth boxer to win the world championship. Mary Kom is the only other Indian boxer to have won the title, followed by Sarita Devi in 2006, Jenny RL in 2006, Lekha KC in 2006, Nikhat Zareena in 2022.
